In the Spotlight

Happy (warm) Monday!!

Hope you’ve had a great week and weekend.

We had some major thunderstorms this weekend, but I can’t say it cooled off.
It was scary though, waking in the middle of the night with lightning, hard thunder, horizontal rains…
and my kittycat who was still outside…PANIC!!
So waking up my man to get the cat in the pooring rain, but kittycat was nowhere to be found.
After 20 minutes of calling, screaming, making weird noises, banging feeding bowls, still nothing…EEK!
I really was afraid TiddyPoo was so scared he didn’t want to come home again.
After 30 minutes the thunder and rain calmed down, and all of a sudden TiddyPoo stood in the doorway all wet and looking at me like
“What’s the matter with you 2? Feed Me!”
Grrr Cats! Gotta love ’em.

Ok that was my very exciting night LOL

Over to some other excitement.
We had a lovely Challenge over at our Recipes group.
It’s awesome to see more people are getting to know TSC and join and play along!
The downside is…it’s getting harder each week to pick a winner!
I’ve managed!!

This week the image was Surf’s Up!

and over 40 gorgeous projects were entered!

This weeks winner is…. Angelique
AngeliqueSurfs

but look at these other gorgeous projects!

Saturday Spotlight Designer

Hello and a Happy Saturday to everyone!!

We are so glad you stopped by to visit as we share our  Saturday Spotlight Designer!!

Please join us as we welcome  Wiola   as our Spotlight designer

398056_10150426944558414_354378341_n

I’m a social worker, tree hugger and veggie lover. I’m also a lover of coffee. And sheep. And people. Oh and I’m big on crafts (you didn’t see that one coming, did you?).

At high school I went to the Aesthetic Program – textile/fashion. For several years my crafting was focused on sewing – only. When I had finished high school I was so tired of sewing that my brand new sewing machine was left untouched for a long time. I went to college and didn’t find time for bigger craft projects, such as sewing. Eventually I felt the need to craft again. I started painting… with all the left-overs of my nail polish. Since I worked in the care, I couldn’t use nail polish anymore since that would be against the hygiene regulations. I made small paintings (in post-card-sizes) and I found myself enjoying it. Later I purchased actual paint, instead of nail polish. Then it didn’t take me long before I had discovered the world of scrap-booking/card-making with all the different and fabulous papers, digital stamps and other scrap-booking supplies. I found that it suited me perfectly. It wasn’t too time-consuming or demanding. Also I didn’t have to rip more seams (which my sewing projects had often resulted in).

Wiola created her fabulous card using Lost Fairy which you can find in the store here
DSCN9347

I have actually painted the fairy in my card with nail polish, except for the skin which I painted with ProMarker – Almond. I still like to paint things (and not my nails) with nail polish. Nowadays I purchase nail polish only for card-making. I guess I’m weird that way. The flowers come from the local craft store Pysselmakaren, and so do the leaves in the corners of my card (I have painted them with green and golden acrylic paint). The little ladybird bead comes from Pärlgården. The background is painted with green, blue, purple, golden and orange acrylic paint mixed with soap (the latter is especially important if you want to create the kind of effect that you can see in the photo). The white stone, which you can see on the right side of my card, was found at the beach. I like to incorporate some natural items in my creations. I love the nature (but I have an irrational fear of ants). I live in the deep forests of Sweden, but you can also find me here: http://chasingfabrics.blogspot.com

You can see more of Wiola’s fabulous creations by visiting her  blog

Coloring in Distress Ink and Pencil Chalk Tutorial by Valou

TUTORIAL COLORING IN INKED DISTRESS AND WITH PENCILS CHALK

  1. Prepare your material:

    – Brushes: a fine and a bigger one. Personally, I use brushes with reservoir.

    – Your ink Distress.

    – Your box of pencils chalk.

    – An acrylic block.

  1. Prepare your image
  2. 3.Begin by diluting with some ink “Distress Tattered Rose” with some water and recover all the surfaces representing the skin of your character.

val3

 4. With your fine brush, put some ink “Distress Walnut Stain” not diluted on the lines of hair.

  5. Put a little water on your brush then diluted a little ink “Distress Tea Dye”. Pass with this brush on all the hair. Do not add ink! That will allow to have more clear reflections.

6. Prepare your pencils chalk. Take the one which you need. For my part, I choose the pink.

7. Cross withyour pencil chalk on the edges of the zone to color ( the dress). These zones will be the darkest once the ended coloring.

 Val 10

8. Moisten your brush and go back on your lines of chalk by making small circular movements “to pull” well the chalk inward. It gives you more clear reflections to certain places. Continue until the obtaining of the effect for which you wish.

 Val 11

9. Make the same thing with the other zones of your image.

10. Once your image is very dry, rub delicately with a piece of “Scottex”.
